ARTHUR GORSON
Producer
Arthur Gorson was born and raised in New York City, where he established a career in music and film production. His photographic work with artists such as Bob Marley is widely published. He was lured to his current home of Los Angeles to take a position as feature film producer for Dreamstreet, Inc., with offices at Universal and Paramount Studios. He developed projects with prominent directors such as Taylor Hackford, Colin Bucksey and Tony Scott.
Mr. Gorson’s extensive feature film screen-credits as a producer include: “Cronos” by Guillermo Del Toro; “Better Watch Out”, and “Road to Nowhere” by Monte Hellman; “Night Watch” by Timour Bekmambetov, “Cabeza de Vaca” by Nicolas Echevarria, and the 2019 released “No Place Like Home” by director Perry Henzell’s (“The Harder They Come”). Among his documentary films are “The Roots of Reggae,” (produced with Wayne Jobson), “A Filmmaker’s Odyssey” (produced and directed with David Garonzik); and “High Hope: The Kitty Owens Spence Story (with Jefferson Miller.)
Mr. Gorson currently has several episodic television series in active development, including:High & Outside, based on former Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti’s stories of the underbelly of sports; and High Hope: The Series, a tropical noir, set in Jamaica during the hight of the cold war, and ablaze with spy-craft and sexual liberation. He is producing and co-directing (with Jefferson Miller) The Monty Alexander Story, a documentary on the life of the Jamaican-born jazz great, currently in production.
Flash back… Following on feature film activities he added short-form production to his portfolio, Mr. Gorson enjoyed the fast pace, rapid gratification, and creative demands of Commercials (at first teaming with Academy Award winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro.) An eye for creative talent led a continuing run of challenging and cutting-edge commercials, music videos, and concert DVDs; working with prominent directors such as: Zach Snyder, Dean Karr, Patricia Riggen and Alejandro Toledo. After production stints at RSA-USA (Ridley Scott and Associates) and A Band Apart, he became a founding partner and producer at The Mine, LLC, where he spent 5 years supervising broadcast commercial, and film production.
He has produced over 50 Commercials for national and international clients on locations around the world. His music video credits include artists such as: Damian and Stephan Marley, Toots Hibbert, Lisa Marie Presley, Evanescence, The Dave Matthews Band, Tommy Lee, Velvet Revolver, Willie Nelson, Stevie Nicks, Iron Maiden, Korn, Cypress Hill, Ozzy Osbourne, Dr. Dre, Jason Mraz, Duran Duran, Godsmack, and X-Japan. He was producer (Jamaica segment) on the epic video “Infinite Love”, for AR Rahman (Oscar for soundtrack of “Slumdog Millionaire”) shot around the world and directed by Paul Boyd for Dave Stewart’s Weapons of Mass Entertainment. As of 2024, music videosMr Gorson produced with director Dean Karr have received over 690 Million combined views on YouTube.
His work has received international recognition, including: Cannes Film Festival, Gran Prix Semaine de la Critique; Telly Award; Saturn Film Award: MuchMusic Award (Canada) for “Video of the Year”; VMA/MTV Awards; Billboard Awards; MTV Europe; and the Kodak Indie Award. Mr Gorson is the recipient of multiple RIAA gold and platinum awards, as well as a BVA Award (British Video Association) for long form DVD.
